About the Company
Christopher Farr Cloth was founded in 2000 by Michal Silver, together with Christopher Farr and Matthew Bourne. From the beginning, the brand has championed the finest materials, traditional artistry and a spirit of innovation. Today its collection encompasses fabrics, wallcoverings, passementeries and accessories, each reflecting a respect for time-honoured textile production and an intellectual yet playful approach to design.
A distinctive palette of recognisable hues runs throughout the collections, uniting designs that draw on a wide range of artistic sources and archives. Each new fabric or wallcovering emerges from dialogue with collaborators, ensuring a diversity of ideas is central to the brand’s identity.
The range spans print, woven and performance textiles. Prints stand out for their vibrant colours and intricate patterns, while the woven collection highlights craftsmanship in every thread. Outdoor and performance fabrics demonstrate durability without compromising on style. All prints are created by artisans at a family-owned mill near London, while woven textiles are produced in Italy and Belgium, where new weave structures and innovative yarns are explored.
At the helm, Michal Silver works closely with textile and interior designers. For her, fabric is never just pattern: it is texture, atmosphere and the way a room comes to life when textiles are placed on a drape, a chair or a sofa. This broader understanding of space continues to shape the brand’s direction.
From intricate craftsmanship to bold innovation, Christopher Farr Cloth has spent the past quarter-century bridging cultures and design styles. For the brand, true luxury lies in creating a thoughtful legacy: not simply patterns for today, but stories that endure for tomorrow. Their recent anniversary collection celebrated this ethos, bringing together long-standing collaborators such as Martin Brudnizki, Kit Kemp, Ron Arad and Julian Chichester. The collection of five chairs and six quilts stands as a tribute to the company’s artistic integrity, collaborative spirit and creativity.
Christopher Farr Cloth balances tradition with innovation, building on a legacy of excellence in textile design. It is a place where artistry meets craftsmanship and where design moves beyond boundaries. Each fabric, wallcovering and piece of passementerie tells a story of creativity, passion and dedication to the art of textiles.
